These self-portraits deal with my insecurities about my body image and the direct correlation between self-perception and the way one is perceived by others in a society that dictates beauty based on physical appearance.

“Elegant Violence” These photos are an extension of my ongoing exploration of masculine identity. In this project I am fascinated with rugby, a brutal sport rich in tradition, dating back to the 1800’s. I’m interested in the balance between athleticism, modes of violence or aggression and varying degrees of vulnerability within a sport where body [...]

Spring has finally come to New York! It’s time for street fairs, stoop sales, outdoor dining, and, of course, going to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, where the cherry trees are in bloom. What are you waiting for? Get off the couch and go enjoy nature! Or, you could always just stay in and enjoy the [...]

I have spent the past five plus years driving across America photographing stranded motorists. Finding subjects is a matter of chance and every encounter is tense because of the unusual circumstances of our interaction and the inherent danger of the roadside environment. From 2006 through 2010, I traveled throughout the southeastern United States befriending, photographing, and interviewing a network of people who left cities and suburbs to live off the grid. Motivated by environmental concerns, religious beliefs, or predictions of economic collapse, my subjects build their homes from local materials, obtain their water from nearby springs, and [...]

The work shown is a documentation of characters, all played out in separate video pieces. All characters originate from memories and are freely based on authentic people and situations.

Since I was born, I have lived in many different apartments and houses but I have returned to the same cabin, in the Pocono Lake Region of Northeastern Pennsylvania, for over twenty years. I know that cabin, and the surrounding landscape, better than any other place in the world. To develop a relationship with a [...]
