In February, I began making photographs with my Blackberry 3200 phone. Yes, it’s a dinosaur and it is a terrible camera but it has done a lot for me. I began a series, or photo diary, if you will, and have since made over 140 in this series. I call the series Pocket Lint, due [...]

Some Fox Trails in Virginia This series of photographs is taken in and around Virginia, the place where I grew up. The title comes from a book written by my father’s ancestor about the lineage of the Fox family. For my own purpose, it acts as a metaphorical map of the rediscovered paths of my [...]

This photo series combines two portfolios: Images from Pershing Square in downtown Los Angeles, done in the deliberately subjective, ersatz Pictorialist mode of the park’s most recent design, which dates from the mid 1990s, and an archive of private queer snapshots, many of which came from a shop in Manhattan’s West Village, Gay Treasures.

“Elegant Violence” These photos are an extension of my ongoing exploration of masculine identity. In this project I am fascinated with rugby, a brutal sport rich in tradition, dating back to the 1800’s. I’m interested in the balance between athleticism, modes of violence or aggression and varying degrees of vulnerability within a sport where body [...]

Spring has finally come to New York! It’s time for street fairs, stoop sales, outdoor dining, and, of course, going to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, where the cherry trees are in bloom. What are you waiting for? Get off the couch and go enjoy nature! Or, you could always just stay in and enjoy the [...]

I have spent the past five plus years driving across America photographing stranded motorists. Finding subjects is a matter of chance and every encounter is tense because of the unusual circumstances of our interaction and the inherent danger of the roadside environment. Most of the photographs from this series can be found on a Google Map that [...]
